All scientific manuscripts accepted for publication in Blood are prepublished as First Edition Papers on the Blood Web site. The embargo for the article lifts at this time, when the data first becomes publicly available. First Edition Papers have undergone full scientific review, but no editorial preparation.
Each First Edition Paper subsequently undergoes a standard production process, which includes copyediting, composition, and proofreading. The edited article is then published in its final form in the first available print and online issue of the journal.
If you would like to learn what the First Edition and/or final publication date is for a Blood article, contact Blood’s prepublications{at}hematology.org. If you have questions about the embargo policy, please contact Communications Coordinator lstark{at}hematology.org. Journalists who would like to request a copy of a Blood article, or who would like to be on ASH’s press release distribution list, should also contact lstark{at}hematology.org.
Press releases should properly state the name of the Society. An example of recommended text: “This research was published in Blood, the journal of the American Society of Hematology.”
